The ONLINE Funeral Directing Certificate program at Commonwealth Institute of Funeral Service is designed so that students can reach their academic goals on their schedule. Commonwealth Institute of Funeral Service online school’s program allows students to experience the on-campus environment in the comfort of their own home.

Students in the online school program will learn how to conduct funeral services for various religious, fraternal, military and nontraditional customs. You will learn the preparation needs (other than embalming) of a deceased human body for burial and study other means of final disposition. Additionally, you will learn to conduct funeral arrangement conferences with families, including completion of necessary paperwork, and learn the workplace safety guidelines for funeral service personnel. The online school’s program also supports students in finding entry-level employment as an apprentice/intern/provisional licensee with a funeral home, cemetery, pre-need sales organization or affiliate funeral service merchandise company.
